Peterhouse now has its first ever female and LGBTQ+ Master! In addition, our JCR committee has a dedicated LGBTQ+ officer to represent the views and voice concerns of the LGBTQ+ community in Peterhouse. The officer also works with the CUSU (Cambridge University Students' Union) LGBTQ+ campaign to ensure that Peterhouse is involved in the uni-wide LGBTQ+ effort!
The college has a dedicated group for LGBTQ+ persons to join, which is closed (for the privacy of individuals), where we can share events, talks and all things Pride. Talking of which, Cambridge hosted its first ever Pride event in the town this year, attended by many proud Petreans!
Glitterbomb, the LGBTQ+ night out, is popular with clubbers at Peterhouse for a chance to mingle and have a great time with other members of the community from all across colleges, but this club night is open to all persons regardless of how you identify as well, so a great night out for you and your mates.
The LGBTQ+ officer also organises the annual LGBTQ+ Formal Hall- a celebratory candlelit meal, with pre-drinks hosted at the Master's Lodge! Furthermore, the LGBTQ+ officer holds weekly welfare hours, which are confidential and open to anyone wishing to speak to the officer about anything that is concerning them or just to drop in and have a quick break from work!
Finally, to round up the year in May Week (a funny Cambridge quirk since this week is actually in June), the CUSU LGBTQ+ campaign organises the Rainbow Ball, an exciting and fun-filled night to end the academic year and bask in the wonderful, inclusive community of LGBTQ+ persons in Cambridge!
